In the months ahead, the companies will conduct a review, in particular of the technical situation and operating processes at the two German facilities, and calculate the investments necessary to overhaul and update them.

E.ON Kernkraft and Vattenfall Europe Nuclear Energy each have a 50% stake in Krummel nuclear power station, and Vattenfall has a majority stake and E.ON a one-third stake in Brunsbuttel power station.

According to the companies, another purpose of the review is to determine whether E.ON will take over operational responsibility for both facilities.

E.ON and Vattenfall intend to complete the necessary analyses, evaluations and concept-designs in the first half of 2011.
