The company will use the building for offshore operations for its Amrumbank West offshore wind farm, which will be supported by about 50 people working in shifts by boat and helicopter.

The building, which is scheduled to open in August 2014, is part of conversion of the island’s southern harbour.

New service and storage buildings as well as outdoor storage areas and jetties will be constructed to convert Helgoland into a service port.

The Amrumbank West offshore wind farm will include 80 Siemens wind turbines with a capacity of 3.6mw each to generate a total of 288mw.
