Operators at the 685MW nuclear power plant, which is owned and operated by Entergy, are investigating what they called a minor leak at a valve on a pipe that carries steam, reports Associated Press.
Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station’s workers are investigating the cause of the leak at a pilot valve on one of the facility’s four safety relief valves.
Entergy said the power generating station "is in a safe, stable condition and there is no threat to public safety."
The latest shutdown comes just four days after the power plant came back online, after being closed down for seven days.
The nuclear power plant, which began commercial operation in December 1972, generates enough electricity to power 550,000 homes in the state.
