Italian oil and gas company Eni's operations at the Kashagan oilfield have been suspended for three months after the Kazakhstan government accused the Italian oil major of violating certain environmental regulations.

<p>Kazakhstan also demanded that Eni increase the country&#0039;s share of profits from the field to 40% from the present 10%.<br /><br />Nurlan Iskakov, environmental protection minister of Kazakhstan, is quoted by Thomson Financial as saying: Operations have been suspended for three months over the environmental violations uncovered.<br /><br />Both the sides are expected to hold talks soon to discuss the issue.</p>
