Eni Norge resumed production on the Goliat field offshore Nprway. Full production is expected to be reached within short, with full reinjection of gas and produced water.

Production was halted on August 26th caused by gas detection in an unwanted area, during a planned venting of gas, as part of a maintenance operation. This led to an automatic power shutdown to eliminate ignition sources, in line with emergency and safety routines. During the power shut down, non-essential crew was evacuated as per procedure due to limited power supply.

The incident was investigated internally and necessary organizational and technical improvement measures put in place.

The Goliat field is located in PL 229 in the south west Barents Sea, 80 km north-west of Hammerfest, Northern Norway. Production started on March 12. 2016 and Goliat was the fourth largest producer of oil on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in July.

Eni Norge is operator of the field (65 per cent) with Statoil as partner (35 per cent).
