Sonnen is expanding its US footprint with a significant investment in a new North American Innovation Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The center will merge the company’s US manufacturing operations with product research and development.

The sonnen InnovationHub is expected to start production of sonnenBatterie products in the second quarter of this year.

It is expected to help sonnen accelerate its innovation and production of the sonnenBatterie smart energy management systems for the American market in one central location in Atlanta for improved collaboration and innovation.

sonnen Group CEO Christoph Ostermann said: “sonnen U.S. has experienced exponential sales growth over the past year, making the sonnen InnovationHub a smart investment to capitalize upon the immense potential of the North American energy storage market.

“We expect that linking our U.S. manufacturing and R&D teams in one facility will increase the rate of product innovation, and enable us to better adapt to the future needs of the high-growth U.S. residential energy storage market.”

The Atlanta hub will also enable sonnen in leveraging on its expertise in new product innovation for utilities, homeowners, and new business channels alike. It will also help the company to rapidly scale up production capacity and eventually making energy storage available at reasonable prices.

sonnen’s move will bring in new jobs in the manufacturing, electrical and mechanical engineering categories. The company stated that it has already started renovating an existing facility and creating a custom-designed facility.
