Siemens is to supply two steam turbine gensets to a biomass-fired plant in Tres Lagoas, 600 km northwest of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

The order, valued at €22 million, was placed by the Brazilian company Poeyry

Empreendimentos, part of VCP (Votorantim Celulose e Papel), one of the biggest cellulose producers in the Americas.

The steam for the two gensets will be provided almost entirely by the combustion of biomass residue from the local pulp mill and will supply both the pulp mill and an adjacent paper mill with environmentally friendly energy.

The Siemens contract covers two SST-PAC 800 steam turbine generator sets, each comprising one steam turbine and one generator and jointly generating 160 MW.
