The PowerTab is an in-home display (IHD) device that provides residential customers with real-time data on their power consumption, current and up-coming electricity rates as well as text messages from their utility service provider.
Synergy spokesperson Andrew Gaspar said that this is an exciting initiative because it provides households with a visible signal of the electricity they are using, and often wasting, and how much it is costing at any point in time.
ZigBee Alliance marketing and business development vice president Benno Ritter said that the Energy Aware PowerTab is an important ZigBee Certified product for ZigBee Smart Energy offering critical in-home display capabilities that can help consumers be more environmentally aware.
