Featuring 32 wind turbines, the grid-connected project can generate over 160GWh per year which will be sufficient to supply power to 60,000 Chilean households.
The $140m wind power project, which is due to come on line in the first half of 2015, will help in saving over 130,000t of CO2 emission and will contribute towards the company’s business plan for 2014-2018.
Power generated from the wind project will be delivered to Chile Central Region Transmission Network’s (SIC) transmission grid.
The wind farm is located in the Coquimbo region, across from the 90MW Talinay Oriente wind farm, which was commissioned in 2013.
