Dutch renewable energy company Eneco has inaugurated its 17MW Tullo wind farm near Laurencekirk in Aberdeenshire, UK.

The £26m seven-turbine power project is capable of generating green electricity to meet the average annual needs of around 9,000 homes.

The company is also planning to construct a 17-turbine development at Lochluichart, north-west of Dingwall, in the Highlands.

It has also been awarded development rights for a potential 900MW offshore wind project west of the Isle of Wight, and other projects are under consideration.

Eneco Wind UK director Guy Madgwick said that inauguration of the Tullo wind project puts the company on the threshold of a period of potentially rapid growth in the country.
