The company said the ongoing near-mine exploration program at the site indicates further upside beyond the current mineral resources and reserves.

In addition, the gold producer said the Agbaou mine construction is on track to start production in first quarter of 2014.

Endeavour Mining exploration VP Gérard De Hert noted that the ongoing drilling program will increase the mine life before the start of production.

"The results on the P2 and P9* targets support the interpretation of southern extensions from the mineralization in the Main and South pits while drilling around the West Pit and on the P5 and P6 targets has supported the extension of that deposit to the southwest and northeast," Hert added.

"We are also testing the down dip potential below the current pit limits in several areas using core drilling."

According to Endeavour, Agbaou has an indicated and measured resource of 1.157 million oz gold as well as an additional 1.473 million tonnes at 1.5 g/t in the inferred category.

Endeavour said its Ivorian subsidiary has the mining permit for the 85%-owned Agbaou gold project, which requires no other permits for construction and production.
