Red Eléctrica de España has selected legal firms Bufete Lupicinio Rodríquez (BLR) and Denton Hall (DH) to advise on the establishment of an electricity market in Spain. BLR will handle corporate and commercial aspects and DH will assist with regulatory issues.
The work will involve a comparative study of the legislation in England and Wales, Aust- ralia, Scandinavian countries and California. The legal firms will work closely with the operator of Valencia’s Citric Futures Market. The Spanish government intends to create an electricity futures market, using the various foreign systems as its model.
