e-Home AUTOMATION LLC (e-Home) has introduced its new e-Home CONTROLS software at the Gadget Show Live on April 17, 2009. Supported by Intel Corporation (Intel) and Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft), the company will start to roll out its e-Home CONTROLS software to installers, integrators, property developers and retail clients. The new advanced software enables users to communicate with, and control their property through, their mobile, the Internet or even through voice commands.

This enables access to a host of services including security, surveillance cameras, lighting, heating, air conditioning, as well as entertainment and Internet services.

The software also caters for the Arab and Muslim regions, offering multiple language support including Arabic, privacy control, Call to Prayer (Athan) and e-Qur’an.

Written with the new advance programming languages and techniques, including Microsoft .NET 3.5, the software is optimized to run on Intel’s energy efficient processors, including Intel Core Duo, Intel Core2 Quad, and the new Intel Atom. The software runs as a core server, with a host of interfaces such as touch screens, PCs, mobile phones (including CE6 smart phones, Nokia N and E Series and the Apple iPhone) connecting to it.

“We are delighted to officially launch our software,” said Arch. Khalifa A. A. AlJaziri, group managing director, e-Home. “After more than two years in development, the e-Home CONTROLS software takes the best functionality of the best automation solutions in the global market and delivers them all in one package for the first time.”

A project fully supported by Intel, e-Home CONTROLS is easy to use and is fully compatible with automation hardware, including X10 and Rako for retrofitting. C-Bus, KNX/EIB and the e-Home High Definition Living Automation System are supported for new build properties.

“We pride ourselves on the role that we are taking in adapting technology to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives.” Said Samir Al-Schamma, Intel general manager for the Arab Gulf region. “e-Home has been able to deliver a world-class solution that can handle multiple aspects of home and office automation, security, and entertainment. By using Intel Architecture as an underlying building block, users are sure to get both high performance and high energy efficiency at the same time, as well as the quality and reliability which can be expected from the Intel brand.”

e-Home has worked closely with Microsoft on the development of the software, using the new programming technologies. The architecture of e-Home CONTROLS has been designed to make it suitable for use in homes and offices but is also suitable for deployment on a large-scale, being a vital component of smart “city” connectivity.

Yasir Khokhar, Digital Cities Initiative Lead commented “Microsoft in the Gulf is actively engaged in the real estate technology sector and e-Home Automation is a strategic partner which utilizes the underlying power of the Microsoft platform and devices for its automation solution. In the future we hope to integrate Microsoft’s community services platform to create new business models for property developers which is a unique offering for the market.”

The e-Home solution is available to UK customers through their UK distributor, Smart House Store, with the lighting control, energy monitoring and management elements of the system expected to draw the greatest interest from retail clients and businesses.

e-Home is a United Arab Emirates-based provider of smart home technologies.
