The EBRD loan will will help Energy Partners to construct two hydropower plants, Cerruje 1 and Cerruje 2, on the Benji River.
With a combined generation capacity of 5.1MW, the utilities will generate about 14.7GWh of electricity per year, and help offset over 9,500 tonnes of CO2 annually.
EBRD Resident Office head Fabio Serri said the construction of the Cerruje hydropower plants is one of the few private investments in renewable energy generation in Albania in many years.
The EBRD financing is extended under the Bank’s Western Balkans Sustainable Energy Direct Financing Facility.
