The installation of the new GE Evolve LED street lights is expected to help the city reduce its energy use by 28 million watts a year, while the enhancing the city’s security associated with this high-performance lighting system.

The GE LED street lighting system uses advanced optics to direct the light to where it is needed, providing uniform light across the entire area it illuminates even with less lumens, or light level, compared to a high-intensity discharge street lighting system.

GE Lighting president and CEO, Michael Petras said that the new GE Evolve LED street lights are the perfect fit for the needs of urban municipalities and with this project, East Cleveland is deploying aesthetically pleasing, energy saving high-technology street lights that offer excellent illumination.

"The quality of the light also boosts safety in a high-traffic area of the city, while significantly reducing the city’s energy usage," Petras said.
