Empyrean has said that the drilling operations on the May-1H well have been completed at the Sugarloaf Project within the Sugarkane Gas & Condensate Field in Texas.

The well was drilled to a final depth of 17,550ft, providing approximately 5,000ft of horizontal section within the reservoir.

The company said that the production casing string will now be run and cemented in place after which the well will be fracture stimulated in due course, in a similar fashion to the other wells within the Eagle Ford Shale trend.

This is the third post farmout well within the Sugarloaf Project in which Empyrean has participated.

The fourth post farmout well within the Sugarloaf Project, Urrutia-1H well, has been spudded and is presently drilling ahead.

The fracture stimulation of the Kowalik-1R well is presently underway for which a total of 23 stages are planned.
