Dominion Petroleum has signed a production sharing contract with the Kenyan Ministry of Energy for Block L9 in the Lamu Basin, offshore Kenya.
The company will hold a 60% working interest in the block and will be its operator.
Dominion will now reprocess 2,500 kms of 2D seismic data, carry out block wide G&G studies and acquire 500 square kilometers of 3D seismic data in the initial two-year exploration period.
After the initial two-year period, the company can enter the second two-year period by committing to drill a single exploration well.
Dominion said that Block L9 has many geological similarities to its Block 7 offshore Tanzania.
