The GBP84m savings is part of the GBP6.2bn savings program announced in the Budget 2010 in May by the government.
The DECC is planning to close the Low Carbon Buildings Fund early that will save GBP3m, while GBP6.1m savings will be further brought by efficiency savings and under spending on other DECC programs.
DECC will also cut GBP12.6m in grants for low-carbon technology and business support to the Carbon Trust. The cuts will also affect the bio-energy capital grants and bio-energy infrastructure schemes.
DECC says it will provide GBP5.3m in grants for 2010/11, but will cancel the final funding rounds to save GBP4.7m.
Savings will also come from reducing funding for deep geothermal energy generation by GBP1m, scaling back the scope of the offshore wind capital grants scheme to the tune of GBP3m.
A savings of GBP2.9m will be brought by limiting the Central Government Low Carbon Technology Programme.
The DECC will save GBP700,000 on the Energy Saving Trust’s GBP3m program by culminating its technology trials early.
