China’s Datang International Power Generation Co plans to build a yuan9 billion ($1.2 billion) coal-fired plant to produce power and methanol in northeastern China.
The 400 MW facility will produce 600,000 tonnes of methanol annually, local media reports. Coal-to-methanol technology for the project, to be located at Fuxin in Liaoning Province, is expected to come from a foreign partner.
