Construction of the primary dam for the Ba Ha River hydroelectric project has begun in the central province of Phu Yen, Vietnam.

The US$264M project’s power plant is expected to generate 220MW when it is completed by 2008.

Ba Ha River hydro project is designed to generate 825MkWh/yr, as well as act as a flood prevention device.

The planned damming rate is a reported 20,000m3 per day, and is being undertaken by the Corporation of Electromechanics and Agriculture Construction, along with Construction Company 47.
