Malaysia’s Tenaga Nasional Berhad has awarded two new contracts for work on the Ulu Jelai hydroelectric project in the state of Pahang, Reuters has reported.

A consortium of SMEC International Pty Ltd and SMEC (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd won a deal to provide detailed engineering design services for the project, with a consortium of Tindakan Mewah Sdn. Bhd. and Salini Costruttori awarded to contract to carry out the main civil, electrical and mechanical works, says reports.

The project is expected to take five years to complete.
