AEOI spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi was quoted by FARS news agency as saying: "We reached agreements in our (recent) talks with the Rosatom (the Russian contractor) Chief on the construction of two power plants with a minimum capacity of 1,000-megawatt and equipped with water sweetening systems beside Bushehr’s first nuclear power plant.
In March 2014, AEOI and Russia’s Rosatom State Atomic Energy signed agreement, a part of a 1992 deal between the two countries on further nuclear cooperation, for the development of at least two more nuclear power plants in Bushehr, Kamalvandi said.
As part of the agreement, the new facilities, with capacity to produce at least 1,000MW of electricity each, will be developed near the first unit of the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
The agreement also involves development of two desalination units.
Kamalvand was quoted by Trend news agency as saying: "The construction plan will be complete in five to seven years."
