Cooper Marine & Timberlands (CMT), a forest product system developer, has won a 15-year contract from BlueFire Renewables, a producer of renewable fuels from non-food cellulosic wastes, to supply feedstock for the planned cellulosic ethanol facility in Fulton, Mississippi.

Under the agreement, CMT will supply BlueFire’s Fulton ethanol facility with all of the feedstock required to produce approximately 19 million gallons of ethanol per year.

CMT will locally source cellulosic materials such as wood chips, forest residual chips, pre-commercial thinnings and urban wood waste such as construction waste, storm debris, land clearing; or manufactured wood waste from furniture manufacturing to provide feedstock for the plant.

CMT executive vice president Phil Willingham said that the company looks forward to utilizing its experience in biomass feedstock procurement and logistics in establishing a sustainable biomass feedstock supply chain for BlueFire’s Fulton project.
