The company will use Enercon`s 800kW Gearless E53 turbine designed for medium to low wind speed sites.

The project is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of this year.

It is CLP India’s third wind power project in the state and ninth in India.

CLP India managing director Rajiv Mishra was quoted by Myiris as saying that by developing wind power, they can reduce their dependence on oil and natural gas, creating energy portfolios that are less vulnerable to price rises and fuel availability.

With this new wind project, CLP India’s wind power portfolio has grown to 740MW spread across five states in the country.

The `Bhakrani` project is expected to enable CLP Group to reduce the carbon footprint by minimizing reliance on conventional coal fired generation and increasing the share of non-carbon emitting sources in their portfolio to 30% by 2020.
