Neptune Benson has recently installed ETS UV technology in the City of Moline. Both municipalities decided to add UV disinfection to their drinking water facilities for extra protection.
The company claims that ETS UV system treats 100% of filtered water and is effective against chlorine tolerant pathogens. It does not have environmentally harmful by-products.
Neptune Benson said UV disinfection is often used in parallel with chlorine to deactivate chlorine resistant pathogens such as cryptosporidium.
Chlorine and UV disinfection offer a high level of protection to drinking water when they are used together.
Neptune Benson president of ETS UV Jon McClean said: "ETS UV by Neptune Benson was selected following a competitive evaluation based on: the ease of maintenance on the system, excellent references from another Illinois installation, and the availability of customer service and support.
"We look forward to working with their team and delivering another reference grade UV installation."
Neptune Benson has recently released EZ Strainer, an advanced strainer designed for ETS-UV disinfection systems.
The company said UV disinfection systems play a significant role in disinfecting water in recreational applications.
The systems use UV light, emitted from medium pressure lamps, to deactivate harmful organisms and pathogens from the water.
