Choctaw Generation Inc. will install two circulating fluidized bed boilers at its Red Hills plant in Mississippi. The units will be supplied by Alstom in a deal worth $80 million.

The boilers will be built by Alstom subsidiary Stein Industrie. The company has already built a similar 250 MW unit for the Provence power plant in France. The boilers are designed to burn a variety of local lignites while satisfying state and federal emission standards.

Choctaw Generation is a subsidiary of the Belgian company Tractebel. It will sell power from the units to the Tennessee Valley Authority under a power purchase agreement.
