The timing for delivery is March 2016, followed by project commissioning by June 2016. The project is part of the expansion of the electricity transmission system in the southern region of the Dominican Republic where the largest wind farm in the country is located.

Cruce de Cabral substation is one of the 7 substations to be equipped with ZIV solutions. It connects the national power grid to ‘Los Cocos wind farm’, the first and largest wind farm in the country with a generating capacity of 77.2 MW with 40 mills, equivalent to 100,000 households supplied with clean energy or a million low consumption bulbs burning for one year. ZIV was also the system chosen for the protection and automation of Los Cocos in the latest expansion that increased the capacity of the first stage of the wind farm (25.2 MW) by 200%.

The awarded contract includes not only ZIV Protection, Control, Telecommunication and Engineering services but also a complete Telecom System for another four existing substations. They will be equipped with ZIV Universal Teleprotection Sytems according to the Telecom Engineering Project.

CG foresees a strong growth in the Smart Grid segment with ZIV solutions, especially after a successful year with key wins from some of the most relevant and innovative European Utilities such as Iberdrola and Gas Natural Fenosa in Spain, EDP in Portugal and ERDF in France. CG offers ZIV meters, data concentrator units (DCU), distribution automation solutions (DAS) and Substation Automation Systems (SAS).

Commenting on this significant win, Avantha Group Company CG’s CEO and Managing Director Mr. Laurent Demortier said, "We thank ETED for this opportunity to partner them in the expansion of their transmission networks, which is critical to any country’s growth. Our technological strength, backed by a large field experience on the behavior and performance of different communication technologies has proven to be a key factor for CG in gaining a strategic position in the global smart grid market. As an agile company we are already working on new ZIV solutions beyond advanced metering infrastructure to ensure our technological edge".
