Central Grocers bought 220 units of the GenDrive fuel cell in 2008 for its brand new $90m distribution center and the new order increases its grand total of fuel cell-powered lift trucks to 231.
Joining the fleet are eight class-2 stand up reach truck units and three class-1 three wheel sit down counterbalanced truck units.
Central Grocers VP of operations John Coari said that purchasing additional GenDrive units for Central Grocers’ Joliet fleet was an easy decision because the company knew it would drive productivity and keep its carbon footprint at a minimal.
