The $80m transmission project comprises development of a new 345/138kV substation as well as multiple 138kV transmission system upgrades.
Currently under construction, the LNG export project will liquefy natural gas prior to export from the terminal by Freeport LNG Development.
The Freeport LNG facility is planned to be commissioned in 2018.
CenterPoint Energy Electric Operations senior vice president Kenny Mercado said: "The greater Houston area had the country’s third-fastest job growth rate in 2014 and an economy that outpaced the rest of the nation.
"We are excited to provide service to a project that will not only continue to drive substantial economic growth in Texas but also across the United States and around the world."
A proposal was submitted by CenterPoint Energy in 2014 to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to meet the increased needs of the project.
The ERCOT board of directors, earlier in February, authorized the proposed transmission project, which is planned to be completed in mid-2017.
