Estimated to provide 75MW of power to the New Hampshire Public Service under a 20-year power agreement, the plant will use 750,000 tons of woodchips annually to generate electricity.

The plant is expected to become operational by the end of 2013. It is estimated to create 40 permanent jobs and contribute $25m to the local economy.

A generator is scheduled to be delivered in the second week of December. The turbine and the generator together cost $16m, reported The Berlin Daily Sun.

While Babcock & Wilcox Construction will offer the engineering, procurement and construction services for the biomass plant, a subsidiary of Delta Power Services was offered a $19m six-year contract to operate and maintain the plant.
