Canadian Solar Solutions, a subsidiary of photovoltaic module developer Canadian Solar, has inked a 10 MW AC module supply contract with Algonquin Power for a solar project in Cornwall, Ontario.

Canadian Solar will use about 42,000 CS6X high performance modules for the solar project. Construction of the solar project is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2013 and operations are likely to commence before October 2013.

Canadian Solar CEO Shawn Qu said that Algonquin Power is known for building sustainable, long-term renewable energy projects.

"Importantly, this further demonstrates Canadian Solar’s strength and commitment to the Ontario solar market, as we continue to expand our own large and growing project pipeline," Qu noted.

Algonquin Power president Mike Snow said that Algonquin Power relies on trusted partners to help support its expanding pipeline of renewable energy development projects.

"We chose Canadian Solar as the module provider for this project because the Company has a track record of high quality and reliability with modules backed by a powerful warranty," Snow added.

Algonquin produces electricity from a range of renewable power sources.
