The 126MW Fr-9E gas turbine generator (GTG) has been commissioned at Qarn Alam-3 power project of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) following successful commissioning of the first project, 2×126 MW Fr-9E PDO Amal GTG project, in 2012.
BHEL’s Hyderabad llant had engineered, manufactured and supplied the gas turbine generator units whereas the control system was supplied by the company’s Bangalore works.
Till date, the company received contracts from various sectors including petroleum (Petroleum Development Oman); utility (Ministry of Housing, Electricity & water Oman) and industry (Oman Cement Company) in Oman.
Currently, BHEL is implementing various power plant projects across 20 countries for installing 7,000MW power generating capacity worth over $3bn.
The overall BHEL manufactured power plants’ overseas installed capacity exceeds 10,000MW in 27 countries.
