Under the INR16bn ($360.6m) contract, the steam turbine generators will be procured for the nuclear sets pressurised heavy water reactors at the 2x700MW power station.

The state-owned firm’s share in the contract is about INR8.8bn ($198.3m).

In addition, BHEL has also won a contract worth INR400m ($9m) for supply of equipment to the same project.

The project will contribute to India’s plans to increase its nuclear capacity to 20GW by 2020, currently the nation has an existing installed capacity of 4,780MW.
