The 360 km Basslink HVDC transmission line linking the Australian mainland with Tasmania is to be sold to CitySpring Infrastructure Management by owners National Grid.

Previously named as the preferred bidder, CitySpring will buy the world’s longest sub-sea transmission line for A$1.175 billion ($940 million).

The sale is subject to a number of contractual and governmental consents and is expected to complete by the end of September.
