In Everett, 15 new Flyer Xcelsior hybrid electric buses will be deployed for Community Transit, while in Atlanta, HybriDrive technology will power two Xcelsior buses for Atlantic Station, a residential and commercial community operated by Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.
Powered with BAE’s HybriDrive system, consisting of a generator, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion energy storage system, the buses are expected to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy while meeting the durability requirements of urban transit operations.
BAE Systems general manager of power and energy management in Johnson City Steve Trichka said that the company’s proven HybriDrive system is based on more than 40 years of technology development.
“BAE Systems is a recognized leader in the growing market for greener, cleaner, and more efficient transportation around the world,” Trichka said.
