Indian electrical multinational firm Avantha Group Company CG has secured a €3.5m contract to design, engineer, supply, install and commission a wind farm substation at the Seine Rive Gauche Nord wind farm in France.

The company will overlook upgrading the complete electrical system of 75MW onshore project located in the Aube department on the left bank of the river.

Thanking the project developers Nordex and H2air, Avantha Group Company CG CEO and managing director Laurent Demortier said that the contract reflects its on and offshore track record alongside validating its cost-efficient approach offering turnkey design and build grid infrastructure solutions.

"The contract is recognition of our offerings and expertise in the renewable energy sector and our commitment to support France’s renewal goal and the growing regional electricity needs," added Demortier.

Under the contract, CG will undertake tasks including electrical, mechanical and civil engineering works, supply of two 45 MVA step-up power transformers, medium voltage and high voltage Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS), Substation Automation System (SAS), buildings and ancillaries.

Following its completion scheduled in mid-2014, the Seine Rive Gauche Nord wind farm is estimated to produce 150GWh of installed capacity catering to requirements of over 55,000 households.
