Initial results indicated that the horizontal Chattanooga Shale wells are capable of stabilized production of between 300 million and 500 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Over the last 18 months, Atlas Energy has accumulated 105,000 net acres in eastern Tennessee. The company believes that its acreage contains up to 500 potential horizontal drilling locations in the Chattanooga Shale.

In light of its expanding operations in Tennessee, Atlas Energy has named Ronald Huff to the position of president of its subsidiary, Atlas Energy Tennessee. He brings over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including most recently being the president and CFO of Aurora Oil & Gas.
