Astaldi has announced it is to help build the largest private hydroelectric project currently underway in Honduras after winning a US$113 million contract as part of a joint venture with Italian firm Ghella.

Astaldi has announced it is to help build the largest private hydroelectric project currently underway in Honduras after winning a US$113 million contract as part of a joint venture with Italian firm Ghella.

The civil works contract for the Arenal project includes construction of a 93.5m high RCC dam, 6km of tunnels and related works. Works are expected to start by the end of 2017 and be completed in 33 months.

The JV of Astaldi (49%) and Ghella (51%) was awarded the work by Energias Limpias del Yaguala S.A. de C.V.
