As per the agreement, Eurodif will begin operating at its minimum technical capacity as soon as possible, with EDF supplying the electricity for the next two years.
It also allows EDF to have about 1000MW in 2011-2012 to supply electricity to its customers and ultimately of 2000MW.
It is part of the strategic partnership between Areva and EDF.
The Georges Besse plant, located on the Tricastin site and operated by Eurodif, has been using gaseous diffusion technology to enrich uranium since 1978.
This is an essential step in the nuclear fuel fabrication process.
