South Africa-based mining company Aquarius Platinum has reported the death of a contract worker in a fall of ground incident at Kroondal mine's Kwezi shaft in Johannesburg.
The incident has led to the temporary termination of operations at the Kwezi shaft. The company board and management have expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased.
The company noted that the name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin have been informed.
An investigation has also been launched to look into the cause of the accident, with the management working closely with employee associations and Department of Mineral Resources. No other casualties have been reported at the site of accident.
