The Philippines’ Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corp (PSALM) has suggested that the capacity of the 246MW Angat hydro power facility could be expanded.

The move comes as the agency attempts to encourage potential investors to bid for the dam, located some 60 km from the capital Manila on Luzon.

“Investors can check on the possibility of maximizing the generating capacity of the Angat plant by using its untapped auxiliary turbines, particularly when the water level in the Angat River is high,” PSALM says.

Angat was constructed in 1964 and has five auxiliary units with a total capacity of 46MW.
