Under the EPC contract for Sempra’s third phase of Copper Mountain Solar complex, AMEC will design and construct the 250MW solar project on around 1,400 acres of land, exploiting the intense desert sun in Boulder City.
AMEC Americas group president Simon Naylor said that the project is in line with company’s Vision 2015 growth strategy that also includes strengthening its renewable and clean energy portfolio.
"Building on our growing solar position in the US, it demonstrates our ability to leverage our global design, engineering and project management expertise to deliver projects for our customers," added Naylor.
With construction progressing, Copper Mountain solar project is scheduled for completion in 2015 and the project has estimations to generate electricity enough to power around 80,000 households.
