Under the terms of the contract, Amec will replace the existing four 300MWe pulverized-coal units at the RWE’s power plant with the CFBs.
As part of the first stage of the project, Amec Foster Wheeler will provide engineering services to obtain regulatory permits.The project is expected to be developed in three phases.
Amec Foster Wheeler Global Power Group group president Gary Nedelka said: "Our ultra-supercritical CFB steam generators at the heart of this project will not only improve the efficiency of the plant but will also result in markedly lower emissions."
The CFB steam generators are designed to operate with various lignite fuel sources, and will allow the BoAplus plant to achieve more than 45% efficiency.
Amec is currently developing CFB for Kospo’s Green power project in South Korea.
The company has so far delivered over 400 CFB steam generating units to its customers across the world.
