French company Alstom Power Systems has been selected as the supplier of the turbine for the Hanhikivi-1 NPP under construction at Pyhäjoki in northwest Finland. Hanhikivi-1, a 1,200MWe VVER pressurised water reactor of the Russian AES-2006 type, is being built by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom. It is scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2024. As well as Alstom Power Systems, Siemens AG and Toshiba Corp took part in the tender called in March this year, Rosatom’s procurement website says. According to the record of the procurement commission of 27 June, following the results of an assessment and comparison of bids, Alstom Power Systems was recognized as the winner. The equipment will include a slow-speed turbine (1,500 rpm). The customer is RAOS Project Oy (an affiliate of Rusatom Energy International, part of Rosatom). The contract cost is withheld in the procurement documents.
