Alstom is to supply additional equipment to the Santo Antonio hydro plant in Brazil in a contract worth around €80M.
Under the new deal, Alstom will supply two more Bulb turbines, four generators, two speed governors, two excitation systems and six bus bars. IMMA, a joint venture of Alstom and Bardella, will also be responsible for 100% of the hydromechanical and lifting equipment.
The new equipment – to be completed by December 2016 – will improve the power production of the plant by 417MW, achieving 3568MW for the entire project. The equipment will be produced at Alstom’s Taubaté unit, one of the company’s largest hydro factories.
Alstom signed its first contract for the Santo Antonio hydro plant in 2008 with a scope of 19 turbines and 22 generators as well as the IMMA scope of 100% of the hydromechanical and lifting equipment. Today 40% of this first order is already concluded and successfully operating.
