Engineering conglomerate Alstom has issued results for the first nine months ending 31 December 2005 showing an increase on full year guidance on orders.

Orders received for the accounting period amount to €12.9 billion, up 6% versus the first nine months of 2004-2005 with sales up 10%.

The Power Sector was highlighted as a notable success by the company in the last quarter with orders of €4.3 billion excluding Marine and more than €2 billion for Power Turbo-Systems / Power Environment alone. This compares with €3.8 billion for the same period of last year.

“This leads us to review upwards our guidance on orders for the full year from an anticipated stability versus last year to an estimated increase of 5% on a comparable basis,” said Patrick Kron, chairman and chief executive.
