Operated by Energie Développement Services du Briançonnais (EDSB), the 46 year old Pont Baldy plant is located south-east of Briançon, Hautes-Alpes, and has an output of 5MW.
Known as SMARTGEN, the new equipment was installed by alstom in three days, and replaces an existing voltage regulator. The plant features a 5MW horizontal Francis turbine, originally supplied by Alstom, to which a cutting-edge speed regulator was added in 2006.
