Under the agreed terms, the company will supply electricity generated at the Rocksprings Wind Farm near Del Rio, Texas to Walmart.
Around 80% of the expected output from 50MW of the project will be bought by Walmart for a period of 12 years.
Walmart Realty senior vice president Shannon Letts said: "The Akuo PPA is a welcome addition to our renewable energy portfolio, and will provide power to more than 350 Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs, and Distribution Centers in Texas.
"We are constantly working to scale Walmart’s use of renewable energy, and each project like this helps us get closer to our goal to produce or procure seven billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy globally by 2020."
The Rocksprings Wind Farm will produce electricity that will be enough to power around 57,500 homes annually, upon completion in the third quarter of 2016.
This project is part of Akuo Energy’s portfolio of wind energy development projects totaling over 1,000MW in the US.
Akuo Energy is also in the process of developing and launching a solar energy platform.
