If we can fulfil this programme, it will allow the country to avoid importing 2.4 million barrels of oil a year and we’ll prevent 480,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being emitted, Antonio Branco, in charge of renewable power projects at AdP, said.
Branco said that power generation from biogas and cogeneration, wind power and hydrogeneration were among the projects being considered by the company.
AdP will work with EDP Energias de Portugal SA (EDP) and Galp Energia on the projects, which are expected to have annual revenues of EUR140 million.
Branco further said that the company planned to install 170 megawatts in capacity over the next four years. An expected 950 gigawatt hours will be sold to EDP.
