Under the contract, ABB will deliver distribution terminal units and feeder terminal units for the project, as well as on-site commissioning and after-sales services.
Guodian Nanjing Automation (CNNPA), a joint venture company between ABB and Nanjing SAC Automation, will carry out the project.
The ABB’s distribution automation solution is designed to enable real-time monitoring in order to optimize operations and maintenance.
The solution will help in the rapid recovery in case of a power outage as well as ensure supply security to some of Shanghai’s landmark buildings.
ABB claimed that the completion of the project will ensure that the yearly power outage is less than five minutes.
ABB Power Systems division president Claudio Facchin said: "This project supports our push on grid automation as a key thrust area of our division’s Next Level strategy."
